As a photographer, I’m invited into one of the most intimate, emotional, and joy-filled days of a couple’s life, and for a few hours, I get to capture everything. This wedding in the quiet town of Delta Junction, was just that; joyful, emotional, and full of life.

Mark and Viktoria’s wedding day began early in the morning in Delta Junction. The couple wanted plenty of time to get ready and didn’t want to be rushed or feel rushed. When we arrived, we could feel the excitement as the bride slipped into her dress with the help of her girls, and the groom and groomsmen adjusted their ties and pinned boutonnieres. I finished photographing details just as we were getting ready to leave the apartment for the first look.

It was a bright sunny day in the month of May and a cool breeze accompanied us to the first look. It was quiet and special as the couple whispered to each other and saw one another for the first time ready to be married in just a few short hours. They smiled, laughed, and cried.

There is always something so sacred and divine about a couple vowing not to leave each other through good times and bad. The ceremony was honest and I’m always reminded of what we mean when we say “to have and to hold”. Over the days, months, and years, we promise to continue to learn about each other and and hold each other to the high standard that is required as a man and wife. The meaning goes deeper and deeper as life lives on.

The energy shifted as the reception began taking place. It was a celebration! Confetti bombs, dances, games, and raffles took place throughout the dinner party. Viktoria and Mark chose to gift each of their mothers a beautiful bouquet of white tulips in full bloom after the speeches and prayers were expressed. It was such a special touch and moment to honor mothers and all they do and continue to do for us. The evening went on and the happy couple shared cake and laugher with guests, friends, and family.
There’s a moment at almost every wedding that stays with me long after I’ve packed up my gear. Sometimes it’s big, sometimes it’s barely noticeable to anyone else. This time, it was simple: the two of them, sitting next to each other at their table, taking it all in and listening contently to the love being shared. No posing, no direction, just being there together. Married. Present. Happy.
That’s the thing about weddings. The timeline, the details, the carefully planned pieces, they all matter. But what lasts are the moments in between. The ones you can’t schedule. The ones you feel more than you see.
And that’s what I’m there to capture too.
Not just how it looked, but how it felt.
