Lindsey (my sister for those who don’t know) and Russell are a one-of-a-kind couple. They are genuine, so much fun to hang out with, and always up for shooting just a few more photos, making them a photographer’s dream to work with. They are always up for a good laugh, a night out, and firm believers that time spent with those you love is never time wasted.
This session held a few of my firsts as a photographer. It was my first time shooting a couple’s session outside of the USA, the first time shooting a session in the city in lots of traffic, (normally all my shoots are out in the country with mountains, rolling landscapes, and traffic is sometimes non-existent) and the first session I shot not using my normal camera that I take with me to photograph. I used a small Canon travel camera which is great for travel and broad landscape scenes, but challenging when it comes to portraits. All throughout this trip I was wishing I had just taken my chances and packed my other camera and lenses. There were many moments I kicked myself for not bringing more gear, but now I know for next time.
I love the energy that a city brings. The saying that the city never sleeps is true, especially in Bogota. Time seemed to fly by and before we knew it we had spent over two hours walking, talking, and taking photos in various locations around the district before our final stop at a small cafe. Bogota is full of cafes, coffee shops, panaderias, and small hole-in-the-wall restaurants that are perfect for dates, lunches, and just grabbing a coffee with a friend. It’s one of the many things that I love about Bogota.
This is only one of the three photo shoots we did together in Colombia and I will put the others up on the blog soon! We visited and photographed in some incredible locations in different areas outside of Bogota, so keep an eye out for those to be posted!
